Patient Information & Resources

Home Visits and Emergency Calls

It is practice policy to visit only housebound or terminally ill patients. Requests for home visits should be made BEFORE 10.30AM on 0151 317 6310 and a GP will ring you back before a visit is made.

If you require medical attention outside of our working hours, call 111. Please use this service with discretion.

Repeat Prescriptions

Please remember that due to the upcoming bank holiday (28th August) that you may need to request your medication early to ensure you have it in time.

Please allow two full working days when requesting a repeat prescription.

Patients must TICK only the items required on the right hand tear off side of the repeat prescription and post it in the locked box provided in reception.

You can also post in your request enclosing a stamped addressed envelope giving FOUR full working days’ notice.

The practice also uses electronic prescribing so if you have a pharmacy you go to all the time your repeat prescription can be sent direct to them once you have requested it.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
